Nights Grow Longer

Each breath by night gentle release
Of dreams betrayed, in slumber speak
From lips pour sadness, endless tears
Douse flames still burning long between

Darkness engulfs my searching gaze
To depths so far beyond hand’s reach
Your anger stilled by tenderness
My failings willingly embraced

In restless turmoil hours pass by
Winter nights grow longer still
The pain of longing lingers deep
A tender kiss, to hold you near

With dawn comes hope, another chance
To resurrect what once we shared
Our love and friendship, happiness
Reclaim what once was ours to keep
